memorable! Chattanooga was a VITAL city to the Confederacy as it was not
only located on the prime waterway to the deep South, it was a literal
crossroad for the railroads running North and South AND East and West,
and the battle for Chattanooga was crucial to both sides.
As for the Delta Queen herself, she is the smallest but most authentic
of the 3 stern-wheelers operated by the Delta Queen Steamship Company.
The staterooms are smallish, but beautiful. The food aboard was
magnificent, and the crew went out of their way to make us feel at
home. The next time a SASS cruise is offered, do everything in your
power to be aboard when the gangway comes up!
